We’re always looking for ways to improve how we support schools and their communities. That’s why we’re excited to announce an important update to our desktop app – one that brings a fresh new look and an even more unified experience across all d6 platforms.
What’s New?
If you or your school’s parents use the d6 Connect desktop app, you’ll soon notice a visual change: the app will now appear as “d6 Schools”. While the name and look may be different, the content remains exactly the same – still curated and managed by your school.
This update is part of a broader move to streamline our platforms so that whether you’re using our mobile app or desktop version, you’ll be seeing the same school-specific information in one cohesive experience.
Why the Change?
This update helps simplify communication by bringing all d6 desktop applications under one shared name: d6 School Communicator. It’s a visual and technical upgrade designed to:
- Ensure consistent content across mobile and desktop
- Make the experience more intuitive for all users
- Deliver updates more seamlessly in the future
We’ve designed the migration to be as smooth as possible – in most cases, it will install automatically just like any other update.
How to Update (If Needed)
If your app doesn’t update on its own, here’s how to do it manually:
For Windows:
- Open your current d6 Connect desktop app.
- Click the “Options” menu at the top left.
- Select “Check for updates”.
The app will update to the latest version – now labelled d6 School Communicator.
For Mac:
If your application encounters this error (screenshot below) while attempting to fetch updates, please follow the steps below to manually install the latest version.
You can also choose to install the new version directly:
Logging In
You can continue using your existing login details, or create a new account if you don’t already have one. Either way, your access to school information remains uninterrupted.
